The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted a 228-member Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa named as chairman.
The council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign and grassroots mobilisation across the state in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates in the elections.
The development comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with the APC in Ondo State seeking to strengthen its structures across the state’s 18 local government areas and unite its various stakeholders ahead of the polls.
The composition of the council was announced in Akure by the state APC Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, who said it brings together political leaders, party stakeholders, women and youth leaders, support groups and grassroots mobilisers.
According to Kalejaye, the council is expected to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and promote the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration while fostering greater unity among APC members and supporters.
Deputy Governor Olaide Adelami was named Vice Chairman I, while the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, is Vice Chairman II.
Babatunde Kolawole, Taiwo Oyedele, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo and Ayodele Olawamide were named Vice Chairmen III, IV, V and VI respectively.
Former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko is listed as a member of the council, while former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, will serve as Director-General. Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu is the Deputy Director-General.
The council also includes serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, former deputy governors, former commissioners, legal practitioners, technocrats, party elders, women and youth leaders and grassroots organisers drawn from across the state.
Among those listed are Senators Jide Ipinsagba, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Dayo Faduyile, Tayo Alasoadura, Remi Okunrinboye, Gbenga Ogunniya, Titus Olupitan, Robert Ajayi Boroffice, Yele Omogunwa and Boluwaji Kunlere.
Former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, former Speaker Bamidele Oleyelogun, as well as Senior Advocates of Nigeria including Kayode Ajulo and Olusola Oke, are also members of the council.
The APC said the broad-based structure is intended to provide a coordinated platform for mobilisation and engagement with voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
The state APC Secretary, Kalejaye, is also a member of the council, while Ola Oguntimehin will serve as Secretary.
The constitution of the council follows the party’s earlier mobilisation efforts in Ondo State, where Governor Aiyedatiwa had called for a united APC structure covering the state’s 18 local government areas, 203 wards and 3,933 polling units.
