Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, formally restructuring the management of motor parks across the state and proscribing the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW.
In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the signing ceremony was held at the Government House in Osogbo, Osun State, on Monday.
The bill, recently passed by the Osun State House of Assembly, is aimed at modernising the state’s transportation system and addressing recurring challenges in the management of motor parks.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Adeleke described the legislation as a significant step towards resolving long-standing crises in the sector.
The governor commended the State Assembly for what he described as a proactive approach and assured stakeholders that implementation of the new law would begin immediately.
He also promised that the government would ensure inclusiveness and efficient service delivery in line with the provisions of the legislation.
The governor said the legislation represents a solution to the recurring crises affecting motor park operations in the state.
