Arsenal have confirmed that Mikel Arteta has signed a new five-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030, rewarding the Spanish manager for leading the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 years.

The new agreement extends Arteta’s stay in North London and underlines the club’s confidence in his leadership as Arsenal look to build on their return to the top of English football.

Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and has overseen a significant transformation in the club’s fortunes, gradually turning the team into a consistent title contender before finally delivering the Premier League crown last season.

The triumph ended Arsenal’s long wait for the English top-flight title and secured the club’s 14th league championship.

Since taking charge, Arteta has also guided Arsenal to the FA Cup, Community Shield and a series of strong Premier League campaigns, while establishing a young and ambitious squad capable of competing for major honours.

His new contract also includes extensions for members of his coaching staff, providing further continuity as the club begins another phase of its development.

Arteta described the decision to remain at Arsenal as a privilege, saying he was excited about what the club could achieve in the years ahead.

“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” Arteta said.

“This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue.

“We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”

Arteta also thanked Arsenal owners Stan and Josh Kroenke for their trust and support, while acknowledging the relationship he has developed with the club’s supporters.

“I feel the love and respect from our fantastic supporters, and they have mine – and ours – in return,” he added.

The Kroenke family also welcomed the extension, describing Arteta as a key figure in Arsenal’s transformation since his appointment in 2019.

Stan and Josh Kroenke said the manager had a deep understanding of Arsenal’s values and was committed to building on the club’s recent success.

“It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited for what lies ahead in this special relationship,” they said.

“Last season was an incredible moment in Arsenal’s history, a moment in which we created memories that will last a lifetime. We’re determined to create many more in the years ahead.”

Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick said the club was entering an important period and remained committed to creating a winning era under Arteta.

“Mikel has the belief, determination and the understanding of what it takes to build something remarkable and enduring here, and we are excited to continue that journey together,” Garlick said.

The new deal gives Arteta a long-term mandate to continue shaping Arsenal both on and off the pitch as the Gunners seek to retain their Premier League crown and compete for further domestic and European honours.

For Arteta, the contract represents another significant milestone in a journey that began with the difficult task of rebuilding Arsenal and has now culminated in ending one of the longest title waits in the club’s history.
