​Four operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, are currently police custody in connection with the murder of Olalekan Oyeyemi, commonly referred to as Emir, a political associate of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

​Oyeyemi was killed at Mayfair Park in Ile-Ife on September 13, 2026, shortly after attending a peace meeting organized for members of the Accord Party.  The meeting was convened by the Commissioner for Transportation, Sesan Oyedele.

​Following the killing, key suspects were identified, while associates of the deceased, allegedly affiliated with the Aye confraternity, threatened retaliatory action.

​A senior security source informed newsmen that police investigations led to the apprehension of five Amotekun operatives alongside other suspects in connection with the murder.

​“Efforts intensified by police have led to the arrest of five Amotekun Corps and other suspects in relation to the murder of Emir in Ile-Ife. They should parade them very soon,” the source stated.

​An associate of the deceased further alleged that three of the attackers were dressed in Amotekun camouflage during the incident.

Confirming the incident, Public Relations Officer of the Amotekun Corps, Yusuf Idowu, said the operatives were handed over to police and not arrsted.

Idowu, who spoke with InsightMedia on Monday morning said the officers were attached to the former Chairman of the NURTW, Nurudeen Wakil Alowonle.

“Yes, they are currently with the police as part of the ongoing investigation. They were handed over by the Network to support the ongoing investigation”, Amotekun spokesperson said.

​The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, stated: “We are conducting a series of investigations; part of it is the death of one Emir. Some people have been arrested in connection with that. I can’t specifically say if any of Amotekun’s personnel are involved.”
