The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a special committee aimed at strengthening engagement with non-indigene residents and ethnic nationality groups across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee, known as the APC Contact and Mobilisation Sub-Committee on Ethnic Nationality, held its inaugural meeting under the leadership of Lagos State Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube.
The initiative marks the first time the Lagos APC has established a dedicated structure focused on ethnic nationality engagement within its campaign framework.
Speaking during the unveiling, Egube said the committee would serve as a bridge between the party and various ethnic communities in Lagos. He noted that members would work closely with community leaders and associations, identify key concerns, and provide feedback to the wider campaign team.
According to him, the committee’s responsibilities include building relationships with community groups, organising outreach meetings, engaging voters in different languages, and addressing issues specific to various ethnic communities.
“This assignment requires more than simply gathering people together,” Egube said. “We must listen carefully, build trust with community leaders and associations, and understand the issues that matter most to the people. By doing so, we can contribute meaningfully to the success of President Bola Tinubu, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.”
He described the inaugural meeting as the beginning of a broader engagement effort and expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to foster stronger connections with Lagos’ diverse population.
The committee comprises representatives from several ethnic groups. Members representing the Arewa community include Alhaji Sampam Usman, Alhaji Saadu Yusuf, Ms Aisha Sanni Kachiako, Mr Jida Sayid, Mr Ibrahim Tanko Auna, and Mr Ibrahim Suleiman.
Representing the South-South community are Otunba Engr. Isaac Emiyede, Mr Awila Banigo Williams, and Napoleon, while the Nupe community is represented by Hon. Muhammad Kpatako and Mr Mohammed Kudu.
The Ndigbo representatives include former Lagos State Special Adviser Joe Igbokwe, Chief Uche Okpotemba, Chief Uche Ubochi, Chief Anselem, and Ms Ngozi Chinwiko.
Before his appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Egube served as Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget. His career spans engineering, banking, and public service.
