The spokesperson of the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation (POCO), Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, has described the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Pelumi Olajengbesi, as a person of integrity with no record of corruption or criminality.
Chocomilo stated this on Thursday while appearing on Hard Punch, a flagship political programme on Afinju 90.7 FM, Osogbo, anchored by Boluwatife Ajayi.
According to him, Olajengbesi has maintained a clean record in both his public and private dealings.
“Pelumi Olajengbesi has no criminal record, either civil or criminal. He is a saint, a complete saint. We need people who are not only competent, responsible and qualified, but who also have the fear of God in their hearts and good character,” Chocomilo said.
Chocomilo also explained that his decision to serve as the campaign organisation’s spokesperson was a continuation of his longstanding advocacy for the less privileged and demand for effective representation.
“I have always identified with the poor, the disadvantaged and those who are struggling. I have always demanded efficient representation and quality delivery. I have always taken the side of the people,” he said.
He said his move into partisan politics had not changed his core message, but only the approach through which he intends to pursue it.
“The story has not changed. The tale is not different. The players and strategy are wholly different. Rather than criticising across social media platforms and going to radio and television stations to criticise, we are now ensuring that we put into practice all that we have been saying,” he added.
Chocomilo called for a departure from what he described as the established political pattern in Oriade/Obokun, urging voters to consider new ideas and approaches.
“We cannot continue doing the same thing the same way and expect a different result. Allow new people to test the water. Accommodate fresh ideas,” he said.
The campaign spokesperson said he had known Olajengbesi for more than 10 years, dating back to his days as a student union leader.
He said Olajengbesi’s conduct over the years had informed his confidence in him, while citing a statement attributed to former US First Lady Michelle Obama: “Power does not corrupt. Power reveals true character.”
Chocomilo also highlighted what he described as some of Olajengbesi’s interventions in Oriade/Obokun, including support for youths pursuing education abroad, digital skills training, vocational training, job facilitation, funding for young farmers and assistance to small businesses.
Olajengbesi, a legal practitioner and Accord Party candidate, is seeking to represent the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election. He secured the party’s ticket for the constituency in May 2026.
