The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged woman seen in a viral video allegedly threatening police officers with a knife following her arrest over the sale of cannabis, popularly known as Indian hemp.

The woman, dressed in a green gown, was seen seated inside a vehicle while allegedly insulting and cursing the officers involved in her arrest.

She later stepped out of the vehicle holding a knife and moved towards a young woman, believed to be one of the officers recording the incident.

Speaking in Yoruba, the woman reportedly questioned why the officers were repeatedly harassing her over the sale of cannabis.

“Why are you troubling us, are we the only ones selling Indian hemp? And you have continued to harass us repeatedly, it will never be well with you,” she said.

The incident reportedly occurred in Ijebu Igbo, headquarters of Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Confirming the arrest on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the matter was under investigation.

“The suspect has been arrested and the matter is already under investigation,” Babaseyi said.

Meanwhile, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, said the suspect would be charged to court.

Ogungbade said he had contacted the Commissioner of Police regarding the viral video and was informed that the woman would be arraigned on Friday.

“I have contacted the CP over the viral video and I was told that the woman will be charged to court today,” he said.
