Billionaire businessman and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has praised his former wife, Hannatu Musawa, for her commitment to promoting Nigeria’s culture and creative economy, describing their relationship as one in which friendship and mutual respect have endured despite changes in their personal lives.

Rabiu shared the message on Facebook on Tuesday after Musawa, the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, paid him a surprise visit at his Abuja office.

Welcoming the minister, the businessman reflected on their past relationship while commending her efforts in public service.

“Had a lovely surprise visit at my Abuja office today from someone I once called my wife, the Honourable Minister Hannatu Musawa,” he wrote.

He added, “Times change, but friendship and respect remain. Wonderful to see the passion and dedication she continues to bring to Nigeria’s culture and creative economy.”

Rabiu concluded his message by wishing Musawa continued success in her responsibilities as minister.

The public exchange has drawn attention to the cordial relationship between the former couple, showing that the end of a marriage does not necessarily mean the end of mutual respect or friendship.

Musawa’s visit also comes amid her responsibilities overseeing Nigeria’s arts, culture, tourism and creative economy sectors, which are widely regarded as important to the country’s cultural identity and economic development.

In January 2026, Premium Times reported that Musawa had described her failed marriage to Rabiu as “the greatest experience” she had ever had, offering a glimpse into her reflections on their past relationship.

Rabiu’s latest comments, meanwhile, focused on their continued friendship and his appreciation of her work in promoting Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries.
