The recently appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has stated that the intention of the team is to avenge their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final loss against Cote-divoire and win the 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Chelle while addressing the Media on Monday after the AFCON 2025 draw where Nigeria was placed in Group C with the teams like Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania, the manager expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to win the title in Morocco

“Yes, it’s going to be difficult to win because there are 24 very good teams and some very good coaches,” he told CAF Media.

“I know I’ve got a team that’s out for revenge, and I’m out for revenge too, so we’re going to have a lot of fun. We know what this team is capable of, and our goal is clear—to lift the trophy in Morocco.”

Chelle appointed as Super Eagles head coach on January 7. He led Mali to the quarter-finals of the last AFCON, where they lost to hosts Ivory Coast in extra time.

The 2025 AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place in Six cities of Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
