Nigerian comedian and actor Bayo Bankole, better known as Boy Alinco, has opened up about the tough journey he faced in becoming a US citizen.

During a recent appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, the 56-year-old, famous for his role in Papa Ajasco  shared the challenges he encountered after relocating to the US in 2015.

Bankole explained that he married an American woman just seven months after they met. However, he described the first two years of their marriage as a “bitter experience” marked by financial struggles.

Despite the hardships, he emphasized that he holds no ill feelings toward his ex-wife and is focused on moving forward.

“I had the chance to travel a lot in 1999 and 2000, but I first visited the US in April 2015,” he recalled.

“I met a lady, and when I returned to Nigeria in October 2015, I decided to settle down and get married. But those first two years were tough, and I wouldn’t want to relive them. It felt like the journey I described when I finally received my green card – an ‘Asunkungbade,’ someone who fights hard to earn his crown. But in the end, all glory goes to God.”
