Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), met with former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Saturday in a closed-door session.
While the specifics of their discussion at Aregbesola’s Lagos residence remain undisclosed, sources within the Osun State NNPP, who requested anonymity due to lack of official authorization, revealed that the conversation centered on national political matters.
Recently, Aregbesola’s political group, the Omoluabi Progressives, declared its departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, citing issues like victimization by the party’s leadership.
This move has sparked speculation about Aregbesola’s future political direction and that of his supporters.
Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the Osun NNPP Chairman, shared photos of the meeting with The PUNCH. When asked to comment, he stated, “The meeting was held at Aregbesola’s Lagos residence.
It reflected a mutual dedication to strengthening democratic institutions and advancing national development. Currently, NNPP represents the third force in Nigeria’s political landscape, and the party’s leadership is committed to doing everything possible to help Nigeria thrive again.”
