Suspended Senator for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has ignited fresh political speculation after appearing in a TikTok video enthusiastically enjoying a praise song dedicated to President Bola Tinubu.
In the 15-second clip, she is seen smiling and nodding along to “Asiwaju Omo Ologo,” a Yoruba track by Kano-based artist Rarara, performed during a recent presidential dinner in Katsina.
The video quickly went viral, fueling rumors of a possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, The PUNCH could not independently verify whether the act was a genuine sign of political realignment or intended as satire.
Efforts to reach Akpoti-Uduaghan or her media aide, Israel Arogbonlo, for comment proved unsuccessful.
Akpoti-Uduaghan has been suspended since March 6 following tensions in the Senate, including allegations that Senate President Godswill Akpabio retaliated against her for rejecting alleged personal advances.
The suspension has resulted in a six-month legislative ban, withdrawal of her security detail, and a salary reduction.
In a recent move widely interpreted as satire, she sent a mock “Apology Letter” to Akpabio’s office, just days after he led a Federal Government delegation to the Vatican.
A court order now prohibits both parties from making further public statements about the case until legal proceedings are concluded.
