The Federal Government has issued a warning to Nigerians, particularly job seekers, about a fraudulent recruitment letter being circulated on social media, urging the public not to fall for the scam.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, the Secretary of the Board, AM Jibril, clarified that although President Bola Tinubu has approved recruitment into the four paramilitary agencies under the Board’s jurisdiction, the recruitment process has not yet begun.
The Board emphasized that any legitimate recruitment announcement will be published in national newspapers and other credible platforms, and that applicants will not be required to pay any fees at any stage of the process.
The statement read: “The attention of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has been drawn to a fake recruitment letter circulating on social media.
“It is important to clarify that, while Presidential approval has been granted for new recruitments in the four paramilitary services under the Board, the official recruitment process has not started.
“The Board affirms that all official recruitment notices will be published in reputable national dailies and carried out in a transparent, fair manner, without any charges or fees.”
The public was advised to disregard the circulating fake letter and remain alert to avoid falling victim to fraudsters exploiting desperate job seekers.
“Everyone is urged to stay vigilant and watch out for recruitment scammers aiming to defraud unsuspecting individuals,” the Board added.
