A mother of four, Zainab Buhari, has taken her husband, Babangida Ibrahim, before a Sharia Court in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State, accusing him of persistent abuse and neglect.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Zainab told the court that her husband had subjected her to inhumane treatment, including physical assault and starvation. She alleged that Ibrahim often beat her, choked her by the neck, and forcefully demanded sex.
“He squeezes my breasts painfully and demands sex,” she said, adding that she has been solely responsible for the welfare of their children, including their school fees, feeding, and clothing.
Zainab also revealed that each time she sought refuge with her parents, they persuaded her to return to her marital home.
However, the defendant, Babangida Ibrahim, denied all the allegations leveled against him.
Presiding Judge, Malam Salisu Abubakar Tureta, directed Zainab to present her witnesses to support her claims and adjourned the case for further hearing.
