Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has honoured Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu with a three-bedroom bungalow and a cash gift of N50 million for his pivotal role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The announcement was made via a Facebook post by the governor’s aide, Pius Iliya, who revealed that the presentation took place at the Government House in Yola, the state capital.

Madugu, a native of Adamawa, was praised by Governor Fintiri for his outstanding contribution to the team’s success during the tournament, held in Morocco earlier in the year.

“On behalf of the government and people of Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has presented Coach Justine Pwanidi Madugu with a three-bedroom bungalow and N50 million for his leadership in securing Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco,” the post read.

Photos shared by Iliya show Governor Fintiri displaying Madugu’s WAFCON medal during the coach’s courtesy visit to the Government House.

The generous gesture follows the Super Falcons’ record-extending 10th WAFCON title, which further cemented their dominance in African women’s football.

Earlier in the week, the team was received in Abuja by President Bola Tinubu, who hosted a state reception in their honour. Players were awarded $100,000 each, while members of the coaching staff, including Madugu, received $50,000, three-bedroom apartments, and were conferred national honours as Officers of the Order of the Niger (OON).

The Falcons claimed the title after a thrilling 3–2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco, with second-half goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini. They finished the tournament unbeaten, scoring 10 goals and conceding just two.
