Veteran Nollywood star Joke Silva is grieving the passing of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who died on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.
Silva confirmed the sad news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, paying tribute to her late brother and highlighting their close relationship.
“With acceptance of God’s sovereign will, we announce the passing of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva… Long John Silva… Bros B… Uncle B… my easy-going brother. Rest in peace. January 22, 1953 – August 29, 2025,” she wrote.
The loss comes amid other personal trials for Silva, including her ongoing care for her husband, actor Olu Jacobs, who has been battling dementia.
Though John Olabiyi Silva was not in the public eye like his sister, he was warmly remembered by family and friends with affectionate nicknames such as “Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B.” His absence is deeply felt by those close to him.
