The Dean of Faculty of Sciences and Chairman of the Committee of Deans of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Abel Kolawole Oyebamiji, has emerged as one of the 2025 World Top 2% Scientists.

This prestigious recognition, released on September 19, 2025, by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and Scientific Research Database ‘SCOPUS’, underscores Prof. Oyebamiji’s exceptional contributions to his field.

A statement by Babatunde Fanawopo, Senior Assistant Registrar Corporate Service and Information Unit quoted the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Asaolu as describing the achievement as a testament to the University of Ilesa’s growing reputation as a hub for academic excellence and research.

The Vice Chancellor said it is a remarkable feat that highlights Prof. Oyebamiji s dedication to research and innovation, noting that his work has undoubtedly contributed significantly to the scientific community, and this recognition will inspire other researchers at the university to strive for excellence.

Prof. Taiwo Asaolu said “the University of Ilesa has been fostering a culture of research excellence, and this achievement is a reflection of the institution’s commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation, confirming that Prof. Oyebamiji’s recognition is a shining example of the university’s research prowess.”

He said that the Stanford University list of top 2% scientists is a highly respected ranking that recognizes scientists who have made significant contributions to their fields, describing Prof. Oyebamiji’s inclusion in this list as a testament to his global impact and reputation as a leading researcher.
