Mudashiru-Obasa-Speaker-Lagos-State-House-of-Assembly-e1686224741863

Key political and community leaders in the Agege Federal Constituency have urged the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, to run for the Lagos governorship in 2027.

The call was made on Friday during a stakeholders’ briefing organised by Dr. Wale Ahmed, the lawmaker representing the constituency, at the Agege Local Government Secretariat.

Although Obasa recently downplayed speculation about his ambition, emphasising that political decisions should follow party consultation, consensus and leadership guidance, leaders at the meeting pledged to back him if he joins the race.

APC chieftain Safari Adaranijo said Agege deserves to produce the next governor. The Iyaloja-General of Agege, Mrs. Monsurat Ajayi, vowed that the market women would mobilise support, recalling how traders stood behind Obasa during his bid for a fifth term in the Assembly.

Agege APC women leader, Mrs. Iyabo Ogunmola, praised Obasa’s empowerment of constituents, declaring that the community would support anyone he endorses.

Similarly, Orile-Agege LCDA Chairman, Abiodun Idowu, described Obasa as a leader who has consistently advanced the welfare of the people, saying, “Obasa owns Agege and Agege owns Obasa.”

The Arewa community chairman in Agege, Salisu Gezawa, lauded the Speaker’s accessibility and infrastructure projects, adding that if Obasa becomes governor, “Agege will be a mini-America.”

APC leader Omotoso Alaba summed up the mood with a popular political slogan: “Obasa lo kan” (It is Obasa’s turn).
