The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the state branch of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) over its comments on federal allocations to local councils.
In a statement signed on Sunday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC described remarks made by NULGE Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, as misleading and politically motivated.
The party stressed that the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on February 10, 2025—which reinstated APC local government chairmen and councillors—remains in force, adding that NULGE has no power to interpret court decisions.
APC also clarified that the federal allocations are being paid directly into the accounts of local government councils, not into the accounts of any of its members or leaders as alleged.
The statement accused NULGE of abandoning its primary responsibility as a labour union to act as an appendage of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.
“It is unheard of that a supposed labour union like Osun NULGE would deliberately abandon the purpose for which it exists, to become an arm of the PDP,” the party said.
The APC further urged NULGE members not to be misled by the union’s leadership, while calling on security agencies such as the police, DSS, and Civil Defence to remain vigilant in order to protect peace across the state.
