The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recovered over N446 billion and secured a restraining order on N142 billion in forfeiture within a single month, according to the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
Speaking during the National Joint Security Briefing in Abuja, NOA Director-General Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu revealed that the commission also seized N30 billion in cash, processed 19 petitions, launched 33 investigations, and secured three convictions out of nine concluded cases in September alone.
Issa-Onilu highlighted the commission’s intensified public engagement efforts, including awareness campaigns that reached over 41,000 Nigerians and targeted key stakeholders like State Attorneys-General.
The ICPC also expanded its reach through social media, television programming, and outreach in indigenous languages to strengthen public trust and transparency.
In a related development, ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN, called for quicker and more consistent judicial decisions in corruption-related cases.
Addressing participants at a judicial capacity-building workshop in Abuja, he underscored the importance of judicial efficiency in ensuring that corruption is no longer rewarding.
“These figures reflect ICPC’s ongoing commitment to building a transparent and accountable Nigeria,” Issa-Onilu affirmed.
