Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, has made history as it celebrated its first-ever graduate to earn a flawless 5.0/5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

The remarkable student, Lotechukwu Isioma Ikpo, was recognized during the institution’s 25th Convocation Ceremony, where she was declared the Best Graduating Student, an achievement the university described as a symbol of hard work, resilience, and inspiration.

In an announcement shared on its official Facebook page late Monday, the university expressed pride in Ikpo’s accomplishment, stating:

“At our 25th Convocation Ceremony, one name lit up the hall – Lotechukwu Isioma Ikpo! Declared the Best Graduating Student, she made history as the first-ever graduate with a perfect 5.0/5.0 CGPA at Bowen University.”

Bowen University revealed that Ikpo’s success story was one of perseverance in the face of personal loss. Despite losing her father during her second year, she remained focused and turned her grief into motivation to excel.

“Her journey began with the Advanced Level Program and wasn’t easy. After losing her father in her second year, Lotechukwu turned her grief into fuel for success,” the post read.

The celebration was an emotional one as Ikpo walked the stage several times to receive multiple academic awards, including a fully funded Master’s degree scholarship.

“With tears of joy, she walked the stage multiple times, collecting countless awards, including a fully funded Master’s scholarship! Her story shows that with passion and perseverance, there are no limits to what we can achieve. We’re so proud to be part of her journey,” the university added.

Bowen University, owned by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, used the occasion to inspire other students, urging them to aim for excellence and write their own success stories.

“Now, it’s your turn to write your own limitless story!” the post concluded.

Ikpo’s feat marks a major milestone in the university’s academic history, underscoring Bowen’s growing reputation for nurturing exceptional scholars.
