Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has spoken out about the controversy surrounding his recent comments about fans.
The singer came under heavy criticism after a clip surfaced where he jokingly said he “didn’t beg anyone to be his fan” and only wanted “rich fans.”
Responding to the backlash through his Instagram story, Burna Boy explained that the statement was taken out of context. According to him, he had been joking with his band, not addressing the public, but the comment was twisted online.
He went on to reveal that, behind the scenes, he is dealing with his own personal struggles — battles he chooses not to publicize or seek sympathy for. Burna Boy pleaded to be left alone, saying anyone who hates him should “either kill me or leave me alone.”
Despite the drama, he also used the moment to highlight issues affecting Africa, calling for an end to insecurity and violence in Nigeria, Congo and Sudan.
His message: “I love who loves me. I respect who respects me. Free Sudan, free Congo, free Nigeria.”
