Paul Pogba is finally on the verge of stepping back onto the pitch after more than two years away from competitive football.

The French midfielder, now 32, is expected to be named in Monaco’s squad for their Ligue 1 clash against Rennes on Saturday. According to ESPN, the club plans to ease him in gently, with only a few minutes of action anticipated.

Pogba’s last official appearance came on September 3, 2023, when he played 28 minutes for Juventus against Empoli. His career hit a major setback shortly after he tested positive for DHEA in August 2023 and was handed a four-year ban in February 2024.

However, following an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the suspension was reduced to 18 months, paving the way for his gradual return.

The midfielder trained fully with Monaco on Thursday and is scheduled to do the same on Friday. If he gets through the sessions without any problems, he will travel with the team to Rennes.

Pogba was initially expected to feature against Angers before the international break, but a minor ankle injury in training forced him to sit out. Now, with his recovery on track, fans may finally see him back in action this weekend.
