The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of deliberately frustrating opposition activities ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The party alleged that the Adeleke administration was creating an uneven political playing field by preventing the APC from carrying out campaign activities, particularly through restrictions on outdoor political advertisements.

In a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo by its spokesman, Kola Olabisi, the APC claimed that the state government had directed the Osun State Signage and Advertisement Agency (O’Signage) not to approve the erection or pasting of APC billboards in parts of the state capital.

The party further alleged that APC billboards were barred from being displayed along the Akoda–Osogbo City Stadium axis within a specified period leading to the election. Olabisi also claimed that the government instructed the agency to identify owners of existing billboards across Osogbo and compensate them for three years per structure.

According to the APC, the alleged actions were aimed at curtailing the campaign of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, through what it described as the misuse of incumbency powers. The party accused the Adeleke administration of resorting to undemocratic tactics out of fear of electoral defeat.

Reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on O’Signage, Hoarding and Advertisement Agency, Wale Ayofe-Aminu, dismissed the allegations, describing them as baseless and politically motivated.

Ayofe-Aminu said the APC was attempting to portray routine regulatory actions as political persecution. He maintained that the agency operates strictly within the provisions of the law, adding that billboard and outdoor advertisement regulations are uniform, transparent and apply equally to all political parties.

“There has been no directive, explicit or implied, to victimise any party or candidate,” he said, insisting that claims to the contrary were a distortion of facts.

Ayofe-Aminu added that Governor Adeleke continued to enjoy widespread grassroots support due to what he described as people-oriented governance, stressing that the APC’s complaints were driven more by political anxiety than genuine concern.

He urged the opposition party to focus on rebuilding its credibility rather than attacking lawful institutions, noting that the state government remained committed to fairness, the rule of law and democratic principles.

The APC and the Osun State Government have in recent months exchanged accusations over governance, public finance management and other political issues in the state.
