President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as he continues his end-of-year break, ahead of an important official engagement in the Middle East.
The President is expected to proceed from Europe to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he will participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit. The global event is scheduled to hold from January 11 to 15 and will bring together world leaders, policymakers, business executives and sustainability experts to discuss climate action, energy transition and sustainable development.
Tinubu’s participation at the summit underscores Nigeria’s growing interest in global conversations on renewable energy, climate resilience and sustainable economic growth. It is also seen as an opportunity for Nigeria to strengthen international partnerships, attract green investments and showcase its commitment to addressing climate change challenges.
According to the State House, the President will use the engagements at the summit to promote Nigeria’s energy transition agenda and explore collaborations that can support sustainable development initiatives across critical sectors of the economy.
He is expected to return to the country after concluding his official duties in Abu Dhabi.
