The Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, Dare Fatomide has called on the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Segun Olakolupo Akinbode to immediately explain how the N17m he got from the government were spent.
Fatomide in a statement made available to InsightMedia urged the NYCN to exclude YAN from the crisis facing its leadership revealing that his organization only got five congos of rice from 20 bags allotted to youths.
The Speaker while backing the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Moshood Olagunju, said the ministry remains the “recognized intermediary” between the government and the youth groups in the state.
Fatomide said, “Kindly exclude us from the consequences of dictatorship, incorrigibility, and the mismanagement of public funds.
“Regarding the rice received by your organization without the consent of the Ministry, I reiterate that you have no constitutional right to do so. The Ministry of Youth remains the recognized intermediary between the Government and youth organizations. Bypassing this established protocol only exposes desperation and a lack of accountability.
“The allocation of only five (5) Congos of rice to the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter is not only disgraceful but also childish. Stop personalizing government materials collected in the name of Osun youths.
“From your so-called financial explanation, a total sum of ₦17,000,000 was reportedly received by your organization. Be reminded that these funds were meant for the youths of Osun State, not for your personal office.”
