Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has renewed his call for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging party members to put the overall development, peace and stability of the state above personal or political interests.

The governor made the appeal during a dinner meeting with Ondo State’s nine members of the House of Representatives, held in Akure on Friday night.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa said the progress of the state should be seen as a shared responsibility that demands cooperation and commitment from all elected officials.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between federal and state representatives, fostering internal unity within the APC ahead of the party’s congresses, and ensuring political stability in the state.

Discussions also centred on aligning federal and state development priorities to enable Ondo State to attract and maximise federal projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration.

Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to development and the welfare of residents, stressing that governance would always take precedence over partisan politics.

He described the engagement with the lawmakers as a positive step for the state, noting that such cooperation was necessary to sustain the pace of development and maintain stability in what he described as the Sunshine State.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Derin Adesida, who represents Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency, expressed appreciation to the governor for the initiative and commended his administration’s developmental efforts across the state.

Adesida assured the governor of the lawmakers’ loyalty and support, pledging that they would set aside political differences and continue to work collectively for the growth of Ondo State and the strengthening of the APC.

The lawmakers present at the meeting were Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East), Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), and Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).
