The directive was conveyed in a statement issued Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap.

Condemning the assault, the governor described the killings as “barbaric and senseless,” noting that the incident represents a major setback at a time when the state had begun recording progress in peacebuilding efforts through dialogue and community engagement.

“Those who sustained injuries are presently receiving medical attention at nearby health facilities, while the Government is closely monitoring their condition and ensuring that they receive the necessary care.

“However, a joint search and rescue team comprising security operatives and relevant government officials has been constituted to assist victims, account for missing persons, and stabilise the affected community.

”His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the attack in its entirety and expressed heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

”The Governor has directed security agencies to immediately intensify operations in the affected area, strengthen security presence in surrounding communities, and ensure that those responsible for this cowardly act are apprehended and brought to justice. ”

Governor Mutfwang extended condolences to bereaved families and offered prayers for the quick recovery of the injured.

“Residents are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while cooperating fully with security agencies by providing credible information that may assist ongoing investigations.

“The Plateau State Government reassures all citizens of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state. Additional proactive measures are being reinforced to prevent further security breaches and to sustain peace, stability, and harmony across Plateau State,” the statement added

Meanwhile, tension gripped parts of Jos on Tuesday morning as several shops and businesses remained closed following a string of deadly attacks in nearby rural communities.

Our correspondent observed that residents and traders in areas including Gangare, Zololo Junction, Gadan Bako and Katako largely stayed indoors over fears of possible reprisals and escalating violence, with only a few businesses operating in the city centre.

Security operatives were seen patrolling major roads in Jos, while additional personnel were deployed to strategic locations to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
