The newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Yesiro Karamo, has died just hours before he was due to be sworn in.
Karamo was among the state executives elected by consensus at the Lagos APC congress held on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium. The congress produced a new leadership team headed by the state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi.
His death occurred only hours before the scheduled inauguration of the newly elected executives at the Lagos APC Secretariat on Thursday.
Confirming the development, the Lagos chapter of the APC described the incident as shocking and deeply painful. The party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo, disclosed the news in a statement released on Thursday.
According to the statement, the party received the news of Karamo’s sudden death with “profound shock and deep sorrow.”
The APC said the loss was particularly tragic given that Karamo had just been entrusted with a key role in the party’s State Executive Council.
The statement noted that he was known for his dedication, loyalty, and strong belief in the party’s progressive ideals.
Party leaders also praised his contributions to strengthening the APC in Lagos State, saying his commitment and enthusiasm for party activities earned him respect among colleagues and members.
Although his tenure as Assistant Publicity Secretary was cut short by his sudden passing, the party said Karamo left a lasting impression through his humility, readiness to serve, and passion for progressive politics.
The Lagos APC added that his efforts toward the growth and stability of the party in the state would not be forgotten, as members continue to mourn his death.
