Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella in what is shaping up to be one of the biggest surprise moves of the summer transfer window.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal is valued at more than €50 million as part of a total package agreed between both clubs.
Cucurella is also said to have accepted the move and is now preparing for a return to Spain ahead of the completion of the transfer.
The development comes as a major surprise given the defender’s role in Chelsea’s squad in recent seasons, where he established himself as an important figure at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old began his football journey in Barcelona’s academy before building his senior career elsewhere and now appears set to begin a new chapter with the Spanish giants.
For Real Madrid, the move would represent another strong statement of intent as the club continues reinforcing its squad ahead of the new season.
However, neither Chelsea nor Real Madrid had officially confirmed the agreement at the time of filing this report.
If completed, Cucurella is expected to become one of the standout arrivals of the transfer window.
