Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, has alleged irregularities in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election, claiming that uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were being distributed to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose made the allegation on Saturday as voting commenced across the state.
The governorship election is primarily being contested by the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the APC, and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwole Oluyede.
In a video shared on his X account, Fayose accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of compromising the electoral process through the alleged handling of unclaimed voter cards.
He further claimed that individuals who were not indigenes of the state were being mobilised with financial incentives to participate in the election using the alleged uncollected PVCs.
According to Fayose, the development raised concerns about the credibility and fairness of the electoral process.
As of the time of filing this report, INEC had not publicly responded to the allegations.
The commission has repeatedly maintained its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections across the country.
