The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ekiti State election, Wole Oluyede, has raised concerns over the conduct of the exercise in his polling area, citing technical issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

Oluyede spoke to journalists shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 006, Ugele/Arokun Ward in Ikere Local Government Area.

According to the PDP candidate, several eligible voters at the polling unit were unable to vote at the time due to challenges associated with the accreditation system.

He also alleged cases of voter harassment and intimidation within the ward but expressed optimism about his chances in the election despite the concerns.

Oluyede maintained confidence that he would emerge victorious at the end of the governorship contest.

The polling centre recorded an early turnout, with a notable number of elderly voters arriving to participate in the exercise.

The Ekiti governorship election is widely viewed as a major contest between the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and PDP candidate Wole Oluyede.

Meanwhile, Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, had earlier alleged incidents of vote manipulation in parts of the state.
