The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has urged security agencies to remain alert following a warning of a possible security threat along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the coming weeks.
Speaking during a Sunday service at the church’s headquarters, Ayodele said there could be an attempt by bandits to disrupt movement along the busy highway in either July or August.
According to the cleric, although he could not specify the exact timing, security authorities should pay close attention to developments around the route.
“I do not know the precise time, but security agencies should take note,” he said during the service.
A video of the remarks was later shared on his official TikTok account.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway remains one of Nigeria’s most strategic road corridors, serving as a major connection between Lagos and several states in the South-West as well as parts of northern Nigeria.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official security advisory from the Federal Government or the Nigeria Police Force regarding the warning.
The development comes amid continuing concerns over insecurity and incidents of kidnapping across parts of the country.
In recent weeks, suspected bandits reportedly carried out attacks in parts of Oyo State, including incidents involving schools in Oriire Local Government Area, further raising public concern over security challenges in the South-West.
Ayodele had also previously criticised the Federal Government over the country’s security situation, urging stronger measures to safeguard lives and property.
Security agencies are yet to publicly respond to the latest comments.
