Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has presented a N1 million cash gift to Delight Amayaenvbo, an Edo student who scored straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
Idahosa described the achievement as a product of hard work, discipline and determination.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor said Delight had made his family and Edo State proud, and stressed the need to reward academic excellence among young people.
He noted that the reward was meant to celebrate Delight’s performance and also motivate other Edo youths to take their studies seriously.
Idahosa urged students across the state to stay focused, saying academic excellence could open doors to bigger opportunities and contribute to the growth of the state.
“I am delighted to give Delight Amayaenvbo N1m cash gift for scoring straight As in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination,” he said.
“The gesture was intended not only to reward Delight’s exceptional performance but also to inspire other Edo youths to take their education seriously and strive for excellence.”
Delight’s father, Charity Amayaenvbo, thanked the deputy governor for the gesture, saying it was a big encouragement to his son and the entire family.
He prayed that the recognition would inspire more young people in the state to pursue academic excellence.
