Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has felicitated Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid ul-Mawlid, urging them to embrace peace, tolerance and compassion in their daily lives.
In a goodwill message issued on behalf of Fubara by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, on Tuesday, described the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad as an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on his teachings and virtues.
The governor urged the Muslim community to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s commitment to peace, compassion, selflessness, forgiveness and service to humanity.
He said these values remained essential to building a peaceful and united society, particularly at a time when the country needed greater understanding and tolerance among its diverse communities.
“On this joyous occasion, I pray that Allah (SWT) accepts your prayers, grants you good health, prosperity, and continued peace in our state and nation,” Fubara said.
The governor said Rivers State’s strength lies in its diversity, stressing the importance of maintaining peaceful coexistence among Christians, Muslims and people of other faiths.
“In Rivers State, we are proud of our diversity and the spirit of unity that binds Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths together,” he added.
Fubara commended Muslim residents for their peaceful conduct and contributions to the development of the state, saying their efforts remained valuable to the growth and progress of Rivers.
He called on residents to continue promoting tolerance, understanding and harmony, regardless of religious or other differences.
“Let us continue to cherish our diversity and promote harmony, tolerance, and understanding. May our shared values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity guide us in our daily lives,” the governor said.
Fubara further assured residents that his administration remained committed to building an inclusive Rivers State where every citizen, irrespective of religious or other affiliations, could live peacefully and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
