Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed why he stopped attending church services 13 years ago, saying his decision was driven by his belief that his relationship with God should not be limited to a particular day or place of worship.

The 66-year-old actor made this known during a recent interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, where he opened up about his faith and his decision to stay away from formal church gatherings for more than a decade.

Solade said he stopped going to church because he no longer felt comfortable with the idea of confining his worship and relationship with God to Sundays.

“God created me in His image. I stopped going to church 13 years ago because I was not finding it funny any longer, though I am a child of God,” he said.

“My life is not orchestrated towards a particular day. There is no Sunday in the Bible. Without God, I will not be alive.”

The actor stressed that his decision to stop attending church should not be interpreted as a rejection of Christianity or a loss of faith.

According to him, his relationship with God remains an important part of his life, even though he no longer participates in conventional church services.

Solade maintained that he believes God is present in his life and that his worship does not depend solely on attending a physical church.

“I am a child of God,” he said, emphasising that his faith remains personal despite his absence from formal religious gatherings.

The veteran actor also spoke about his approach to relationships and maintaining his personal space.

Solade said that although he interacts with people and enjoys the affection he receives from fans, he deliberately maintains a certain level of distance in his personal relationships in order to protect his peace.

The actor’s comments have sparked conversations about the different ways people choose to express their faith, particularly his view that a personal relationship with God should extend beyond a specific day of the week.
