The Osun State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Osun State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026, clearing the way for its transmission to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
The bill scaled third reading on Thursday, September 3, 2026, during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, after lawmakers considered and amended its provisions.
The motion was moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adekunle Oladimeji representing Irepodun/Orolu State Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Olawale Oladipupo Akerele of Ilesa West State Constituency.
The House then moved into the Committee of the Whole to consider the Bill clause by clause.
After completing the consideration, the Deputy Majority Leader moved that the House resolve out of Committee of the Whole.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Taofeek Olalekan Olayiwola, representing Ede South State Constituency.
The title of the legislation was also amended from “Osun State University Establishment Amendment Law 2026” to “Osun State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026” before it was read for the third time and passed.
With its passage, the Bill will now be forwarded to Governor Adeleke for assent, upon completion of legislative procedures.
