Aljazirah Nigeria/London Newspapers is set to honour prominent Nigerians, including businessman and philanthropist, Seyi Tinubu; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Bashir Ojulari; and six governors at its 2025 Personality of the Year Awards.
The awards, according to the chairman of the Award Committee, Ibrahim Abubakar, are aimed at recognising individuals whose leadership, public service, entrepreneurship and contributions to national development have distinguished them in their respective fields.
The organisers said the annual awards have over the years provided a platform for celebrating excellence in leadership, integrity, innovation, public service and visionary governance.
Abubakar said this year’s edition would recognise an outstanding group of leaders and public figures whose achievements had made notable contributions to Nigeria and beyond.
Tunji-Ojo emerged as the Minister of the Year, with the organisers citing his leadership at the Ministry of Interior and reforms aimed at improving service delivery, institutional efficiency and digital innovation.
His efforts in areas including passport processing, border surveillance, identity verification and correctional administration were also highlighted as contributing to improved efficiency and national security.
Seyi Tinubu was named Distinguished Humanitarian Service/Entrepreneur of the Year for his entrepreneurship, philanthropy and youth-focused initiatives.
The organisers said his humanitarian interventions, including educational support, community outreach and youth empowerment programmes, reflected a commitment to equipping young Nigerians with opportunities to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council was named Government Agency/Public Servant of the Year.
He was recognised for his leadership of the council and efforts to promote innovation, value addition and greater economic opportunities in Nigeria’s raw materials sector.
Bashir Ojulari was named Africa’s CEO of the Year, with the organisers highlighting his more than three decades of technocratic experience and his leadership of NNPC Limited.
Six governors also made the honours list.
They are Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State.
Oborevwori was recognised for his M.O.R.E. Agenda, particularly his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, institutional strengthening and inclusive governance.
Fubara will be honoured for his administration’s emphasis on fiscal management, infrastructure development and institutional reforms, while Sani was recognised for promoting stability, equity and peaceful coexistence in Kaduna State.
Kefas was recognised for initiatives including efforts to curb illegal mining, free and compulsory basic education, agricultural development and the engagement of 10,000 citizens in sanitation-related activities.
Diri was recognised for his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, human capital investment and socio-economic growth in Bayelsa State.
Bago, meanwhile, was honoured for his focus on agricultural transformation, infrastructure, economic expansion and human capital development, particularly efforts aimed at positioning Niger as a major contributor to Nigeria’s food security.
The organisers said the awards remained part of AljazirahNigeria/London Newspapers’ commitment to highlighting individuals whose contributions influence society and advance national development.
They added that the 2025 edition would celebrate leadership and service across public administration, business,
humanitarian work and economic development.
