It was a moment of grief as family members, friends, professionals colleagues and government officials gather to pay the past respect to the late former General Manager of the Osun Community and Social Development Agency, Dr Funmi Aderonke Abokede.
Leading the array of dignitaries was the Deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, former Commissioner for Community Affairs, Gani Olaoluwa, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Hon. Abiodun Bankole staff of Osun CSDA, persons with disabilities, among others.
They described the late Abokede as an epitome of humility, a care giver personified, and silent achiever, who spent her life in the service of God and humanity.
In his sermon, titled”And He Died”, Rev’D Dr. Moses Wole Idowu, the Minister in charge of Peniel Faith Mission, Osogbo began his sermon, said,”Nobody on this earth will live for ever, everybody will die one day,he said. He made a reference to the book of Genesis 5:5- that no matter how old or young,rich or poor,death is the leveler,the ultimate .
According to the pastor,”Ask your neighbour this question “When you die, where are you going to? No matter your age and position you will die one day. Your money, position,earthly connections, and the like would be left here on earth. Whatever you do well, how impactful you are on earth,how well you serve your Creator and the downtrodden,your charity works in good faith are what count most and not your flamboyant lifestyles”, he said.
Pastor Idowu added, “Whatever good you have to do before the ‘bell’ rings do it now, he counselled.” Even on her sick bed,Mrs Funmilayo Abokede (not knowing she was going to die),was still touching lives”.
The cleric cited the book of 2Timothy 4 :7- A race that was completed with an assurance of meeting the Lord.
Mrs Abokede passed on to glory on 14 September, 2026 after a brief illness and laid to rest today 18th September,2026. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
