President Bola Tinubu has dismissed concerns over his health, saying he is “healthy, sound and ready to go” following his return to Nigeria after an extended working vacation in Europe.
Tinubu spoke with journalists on Tuesday shortly after arriving in Lagos from Paris, France, where he spent the latter part of his vacation.
Responding to questions about concerns raised by some Nigerians and supporters over his health during his absence, the President said there was nothing wrong with him.
“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong,” Tinubu said.
He added that rumours were common in politics but insisted that his return demonstrated that he was in good condition.
“Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound and ready to go,” he said.
Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for a working vacation in Europe, initially travelling to London before proceeding to Paris.
The Presidency later announced an extension of his stay, saying the President remained in contact with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct the affairs of government while abroad.
His prolonged absence generated public discussion and political reactions, particularly over the length of his stay outside the country.
The African Action Congress also filed a suit against Tinubu and the National Assembly, alleging that the President failed to notify the National Assembly before embarking on the vacation.
With his return, Tinubu is expected to resume official activities in Nigeria ahead of the October 1 Independence anniversary.
