Arsenal returned to Premier League action with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium, coming from behind to get their title defence back on track.
The Gunners had made an impressive start to the campaign with four consecutive wins and just one goal conceded before suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brighton ahead of the international break.
However, Leeds proved a difficult opponent, displaying strong defensive organisation and attacking courage that troubled the home side for much of the encounter.
Their resilience paid off 10 minutes into the second half when James Justin fired home from close range after being set up by Gabriel Gudmundsson, sending the visiting supporters into celebration.
Arsenal struggled to find their rhythm but responded quickly as Riccardo Calafiori restored parity with a close-range finish after being teed up by Ben White.
The equaliser sparked renewed energy inside the Emirates, with manager Mikel Arteta making a triple substitution that included the introduction of summer signing Bruno Guimaraes.
The change proved decisive as Guimaraes completed Arsenal’s comeback eight minutes later, finishing confidently from the edge of the penalty area after a flowing attacking move.
The victory earned Arsenal three valuable points and helped them close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City, who remained top on goal difference ahead of their trip to Liverpool.
The result also continued Arsenal’s impressive record against Leeds, with the Gunners having won 10 of their previous 11 Premier League meetings with the Yorkshire club.
