The incident attracted public attention after one of the corps members, Olaode Testimony, posted a video on social media recounting their experience. Olaode, who is serving in Ayedire Local Government Area, appeared in the video alongside his friend, Olusegun Victor, who also serves in the same local government.
The corps members said they visited the hospital at about 10:05 pm after experiencing symptoms they suspected were caused by food poisoning. They claimed they went there seeking urgent medical assistance but eventually left without receiving the treatment they needed.
However, during an investigation by the NYSC Osun State Secretariat, Olaode provided further details, clarifying that they were received by a security officer who directed them to a nurse, but the nurse was unable to attend to them.
He also explained that Victor had received treatment at the same hospital earlier that afternoon, while their unsuccessful attempt to obtain medical attention occurred during a later visit at night.
According to Olaode, they eventually proceeded to a pharmacy in Iwo, where they received assistance.
