It seems the permutation for 2023 Presidential election in the All Progressives Congress has started as presidential campaign posters of the National Chairman of the party , Comrade Adams Oshiomhole with Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai as his running mate have been sighted in some parts of Lagos.
The posters with campaign theme: “Mandate 2023,” were pasted in Surulere, Yaba and National Stadium areas of the state over the weekend.
A message on campaign posters read: “Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole for president 2023… Mallam Nasri el-Rufai for vice-president 2023,” and had the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association as sponsor.
The posters have the logo of the APC crested on them. The sponsors went ahead to highlight eight reasons why Oshiomhole and el-Rufai should fly the party’s presidential ticket in 2023.
Among the reasons are loyalty, integrity, peace loving, belief in democracy, honesty, belief in restructuring of Nigeria and belief in national unity.
In July this year, two large billboards with the picture of the National leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with the inscription: “BAT 2023” were erected at the top of a building close to the Lagos Government House, Alausa, Ikeja.
While there was no official response from the office of the APC National Chairman, one of his aides, who pleaded not to be quoted, however, told New Telegraph that Oshiomhole had nothing to with the posters.
“Comrade Oshiomhole is not aware of the posters and has nothing to do with them,” he said.
El-Rufai also dismissed the posters. One of his aides said: “Somebody is up to mischief. My principal has nothing to do with the posters. You know him that he won’t come out in 2019 for a 2023 presidential race if he is interested,” his aide told New Telegraph. (New Telegraph)
