The Honourable Commissioner for Energy, Alh. Aliyu Kora has revealed that massive rural electrification is ongoing across the state under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He revealed this while addressing journalists in his office earlier today, Friday, January 10.

The commissioner revealed that about eleven communities which have been in darkness for 3 consecutive years in some areas of the state are presently receiving government’s attention. The communities include Ganiki, Ajeigbe, Kulende, Sango in Ilorin metropolis. The problem according to the Commissioner who was on the spot for assessment is due to insufficient number of transformers in the aforementioned neighbourhoods.

He said the technical team of the distribution company, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company IBEDC and the contractor who is to execute the projects have been already mobilised to the sites to hook up the lines as transformers are being supplied to the areas.

He noted that the only place without electricity for over 10years in Kwara State at the moment is Baruten Local Government Area and revealed AbdulRazaq led administration’s plans to connect all rural communities to the National grid starting with Ilesha-Baruba to Gwanara line whose electrification will be initiated today by the government.

Hon. Aliyu Kora reiterated government’s commitment to providing power supply to all communities in Kwara state in order to improve socio-economic growth and development while also providing sustainable living income for the teeming masses.

He noted that the action is in line with his ministry’s readiness and in line Governor AbdulRazaq’s concerted efforts towards attracting investors and opening up the state for massive economic growth and development.
