The Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Ilobu, Hon Abayomi Oyedeji has called on Muslims in the local government, state and the country at large to imbibe the teachings derived from the life of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Ismail, as they celebrate this year’s sallah.

Oyedeji, who made this call in his Eid-l-Kabir message he signed on Thursday, called on Muslim faithful to pray for Nigeria and the world.

The council chairman said this year’s celebration is unprecedented as it’s done in the middle of a global pandemic, calling on everyone to celebrate safely and moderately.

“It’s no news that we’re on the middle of a global pandemic, we as the government at the grassroots are doing our best to prevent the spread of the virus into Ilobu, I call on every to abide by the government directives as we celebrate this year’s festival.

“The teachings in the Holy Qur’an have covered every circumstance, as law abiding citizens, I urge everyone to celebrate moderately, having in mind that safety should come first.

Oyedeji appreciated the Chief Imam of Ilobu, Sheikh Jamiu Bello for being at the forefront of the advocacy against COVID-19.

“I want to celebrate with the Chief Imam, who has been at the forefront of the advocacy towards the fight against COVID-19.

“Finally, I urge you to imbibe the teachings of the history that led to Eid-l-Kabir. Let’s all pray to Almighty Allah to heal our country and the world generally.
