A Vehicle Inspection Officer has reportedly been crushed to death by a truck opposite Mega Primary School, along Hospital Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The incident was captured in a video shared on Friday by Akure-based radio station Crest FM, showing residents shouting and gathering at the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer attempted to intercept the truck while it was in the fast lane but was unable to stop it before the incident occurred.
The officer was reportedly trapped beneath the trailer after the truck struck him, leaving residents distressed.
The video also showed some of the officer’s colleagues in panic as they watched the incident unfold, while residents gathered around the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including what led to the officer’s attempt to stop the truck, had yet to be established as of the time of filing this report.
