18-year old law student of the University of Lagos, Adeleke Ayuba has emerged the winner of the 2020 Essay Contest organized the National Association of Osun State Students.
Ayuba, who hails from Ilobu in Irepodun local government area, was announced winner at the grand finale of the programme held at the NUJ Press center, Iwo road, Osogbo, the state capital.
He beat 19 others who have been shortlisted from the initial 134 submissions to claim the prize.
Speaking the at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo Adeleke commended the association for deeming it fit to organize the contest.
Represented by his aide, Kazeem Muhammed, Adeleke said programmes like such will not only improve the intellectual capacity of the members of the association but also project members of serious minded people.
In his lecture, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Student’s Matters and Social Mobilization, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji urged the students to always be ready to take actions.
Ayantunji said the difference between a student and anyone on the street is the level of knowledge he or she has, adding that intelleclism much be demonstrated at all times.
Also at the event were the Deputy speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Femi Popoola, who was represented by his aide, Idowu Jolayemi, the NUJ chairman in Osun State, Mr Wasiu Ajadosu, Engr Maruf Murphy, among others.
Earlier in his address, the President of NAOSS, Comrade Teslim Salahudeen said the motive behind the programme was organized to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on the members of the association and to contribute towards the economic development of the state.
