The Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State, has called on Nigerians to emulate the unity exemplified by the people of Igbomina from Kwara and Osun states as they have stood together despite boundary factors as one since ancient times.

He made the admonition while giving his remark at the First Igbomina Day Celebration held at Ila Community Education Centre, Ila-Orangun.

Oyetola, who was represented by the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Olalekan Badmus, said, Igbomima was one of the largest congregation of socio-cultural groups across Kwara and Osun States, while emphasising that they paraded a very rich culture amongst Yorubas.

“The people of this town has since ancient time been pathfinders of togetherness and a testament to that is the fact that despite boundary differences convergence for celebrating years of togetherness has never been difficult for them. If you go to Kwara, the Igbominas are there and as well here in the State of Osun. The government appreciates this shared love that binds this human community together. For without which there will be no such thing as Igbominas today.

“As a government we also believe in the notions love, unity and togetherness as demonstrated by descendants of Orangun. we are giving equitable health care to all the citizens by revitalising nine General Hospitals and 332 Primary Health Centres — one per ward — across the State in order to bring qualitative healthcare delivery to the doorstep of our people. In Ila and it’s environs, we have constructed one in every wards.

The Governor added that the community of Igbomina people is going to benefit a lot from the administration through the Agriculture, Tourism and Mining programmes of the state while he stated that the road linking Kwara State and Osun was already attended to by his government.

According to him, “There is a farm settlement in Ila that the government is working on, which is going to directly be beneficial to the people of Igbomina as they would be the host community. Not only this, some tourists sites have been identified here in this community, and as such none of this would go without adding value to the towns and the people.

“In addition to that, we are going to complete Ila – Ayandu Road, Ipara Oke, Ilayara and Palace Museum tourist sites would be upgraded to fit in to our tourism plans and would bring about growth of tourism within the town. Fire Service station built by this administration would be commisioned soon and Ayikunnugba Waterfall at Oke Ila would be given attention to.”

Oyetola however congratulated the Kabiesi of Ila, Oba Wahab Kayode Adedeji Oyedotun, on the celebration of what he described as yet another milestone of cultural height. He also prayed that he lived longer to merry with sons and daughters of Igbomina in celebration.
