The Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has described the death of Folakemi Alonge as untimely, shocking and a great loss to the pen profession in Osun.
The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Alabi commiserated with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Osun State Council and the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) where Alonge served until her demise recently.
Owoeye held that the death of the fearless journalist who was bubbling with life few weeks ago has shown the greatness of God Almighty who has ultimate control over life and death.
He stated, “The death of Madam Alonge is a big loss to many Associations especially the pen profession in our state, my heart felt condolences at this point goes to the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, OSBC and NUJ in particular. Alonge’s contributions to the growth of the profession in Osun will be missed.
“I received the news of the death of Alonge with shock but with submission to the will of God which can not be questioned by mortals. I am still in shock because what readily came to my mind was that I met with her and members of NUJ who came to my office few weeks ago where we discussed about the NUJ week.
“This is a sad moment for NUJ, I share in your grief, we should however be grateful to God that she led an impactful lives.
“I commiserate with her immediate family, the children left behind. I pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss”. The Speaker stressed.
