Chineto Valentine Ozigbo on Saturday emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra.

Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, was declared winner of the primaries held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, Anambra State.

He polled 62 votes to defeat eight other contenders that contested the party’s ticket yesterday, Saturday, June 26, 2021

Announcing the results, the head of the electoral panel, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu said: “Ozigbo polled a total of 62 votes to win the primary.

“He led his nearest contender, Dr Obiora Okonkwo, who scored 58 votes and Senator Uche Ekwunife who polled 44 votes.”

With his victory, Ozigbo has drawn the battle-line with former Central Bank Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who days ago emerged candidate of the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Out of the 16 aspirants who obtained the PDP nomination and declaration of interest forms, 12 aspirants were present at the venue and participated in the voting process.
